About the Book
“Piecing Me Together” by Renee Watson. This year’s award-winning book is a powerful story about a girl striving for success in a world that too often seems like it’s trying to break her. It challenges readers to reflect on the complexities of race and gender, privilege, and stereotyping. Nurses can use lessons from this book to explore issues related to discrimination in healthcare, including answering the question: Why are certain groups of patients getting different care?
Contact Hours
Contact hours will be awarded for the reading, questions, and call. Weekly discussion questions will be answered and submitted by Book Club learners. Learners will then join PSNA’s one-hour call each week. During these calls, topics will be discussed in further detail and will vary based on the week’s reading. Contact hours are awarded per week (by completing the (1) reading; (2) questions; and (3) call). However, learners are not required to attend every weekly session. Earn 12.25 contact hours for reading the entire book, completing weekly questions, and attending weekly calls.
